Ch. 24~Transformed By Truth

"When God speaks, things change."

~I love that!  I love that it's not just talking about "in the beginning.." but that it speaks to here & now too!

How has God spoken to you recently and made a change??

In this chapter, Warren talks about how the Bible is so much more than just a book of rules.  It "generates life, creates faith, produces change, frightens the Devil, causes miracles, heals hurts...defeats temptation..." among other things.  How awesome is it that such an old book can hold So Much Power!!

It's because of this that it would seem appropriate that the good majority of ch. 24 talks about abiding in God's Word.  We're told that 5 steps in doing this are receiving it, reading it, researching it, remembering it, and reflecting upon it.

Don, my bible study leader, has been banging it into our heads to read, read, read!!  He has challenged us for the past 2 weeks to absorb as much (if not all) of the 4 gospels as we possibly can.  It's a challenge!  But, a good one in the sense that it has made me aware of how much time I spend doing other things besides spending time in the Word of God.

We're told that "no other habit can do more to transform your life and make you more like Jesus than daily reflection on Scripture".  It's also suggested to write down some of your thoughts and feelings about stuff that you've read, but remember that unless you really try to apply it to your life & allow God to mold you into His image, the Word can become useless.

My challenge to you is to think about some ways that you can integrate your readings into your life, and read more!!  What has god already told you to do in his Word that you haven't started doing yet??  Do it!!  Warren's suggestions at the top of page 192 could also be helpful.

"Remember what Christ taught and let his words enrich your lives & make you wise."~Colossians 3:16
